Fun of the fair

Apprentice face-painters Lilli Badenop (left) and Holly Johnstone, both 10, take a break from work at Saturday’s annual Wakatipu Community Presbyterian Church Fair, at Frankton’s St Margaret’s Church.

Co-ordinator Lindsay Key said the fundraiser, which also helped build communities within Queenstown's Presbyterian churches, had been running since the 1990s.

For more than 25 years it was held at the Lake Hayes Pavilion.

However, in 2021 the organisers decided to move it to the smaller space, at St Margaret’s Church, where it would now remain.

Mr Key said takings on Saturday were about 35% up on last year — "we’re just gobsmacked".

Money raised would be used to support missionaries in Nepal and Vanuatu, along with running the church.
