Earthquake jolts Queenstown

Queenstown was jolted by a Fiordland-based earthquake this afternoon.

GeoNet's website said the 4.6 magnitude shake at 1.50pm was centred about 35km north-west of Te Anau, about 98 kilometres deep.

Fraser Carson said on social media he felt a "little tremble" at Queenstown's Pinewood Lodge.

"I thought I was losing my mind."

Danielle Ingle wrote: "Glasses were rattling in the cupboards at Sunshine Bay."
