Drivers face drink-driving charges

A man has been arrested in Queenstown for allegedly driving while more than twice the legal limit.

Police stopped the 28-year-old on Frankton Rd just after 11pm on Saturday.

He had been charged with driving with excess breath-alcohol and would appear in the Queenstown District Court next Monday, police said.

The incident follows a plea last month from police concerned over the number of people being processed for drink-driving in the resort.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown, urged drivers to take heed.

Wanaka police stopped a 23-year-old man on State Highway 6 just after 2.15am on Saturday. He has been charged with careless driving and driving with excess breath-alcohol.

The man will appear in the Queenstown District Court today.

A 34-year-old male was stopped on State Highway 6 in Cromwell just before 1.15am.

He has been charged with dangerous driving and excess breath-alcohol.
