A person has been seriously injured after a car crashed into a tree near Makarora in the Queenstown Lakes district this morning.
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the scene on the Haast Pass-Makarora Rd, near Fantail Falls, about 6.13am.
The driver was transported to Dunstan Hospital with serious injuries.
No further information was available.
