A driver allegedly involved in Queenstown hit-and-run incident that left a cyclist in a coma has been remanded on bail without plea.
Brit Nicholas Edward Catlin (33) appeared in Queenstown District Court this morning.
He is charged with dangerous driving causing injury to Mutsuko Morisue and failing to stop after an accident to ascertain whether anyone had been injured.
Ms Morisue, who is Japanese and a waitress at The Rees Hotel in the resort, was allegedly struck by a car at about 10pm on Friday, at the intersection of Frankton Rd and Adelaide St.
She was transferred to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition and remains in a coma.
Mr Catlin, a builder who works in Queenstown, is due to appear in court again on April 3, when he will be expected to enter a plea.
Conditions of his bail are not to drive, not to consume alcohol, to surrender his passport to police, and not to apply for any travel documents.
Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment and a $20,000 fine.
