Queenstown police have recommended Fulton Hogan investigate one section of the Crown Range Rd after there were two crashes in the same spot several hours apart on Wednesday.
Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka said the first incident occurred at 11.30am and the second at 2pm.
Both vehicles were driving down the Crown Range, towards Queenstown, when the drivers lost control on the same corner, not far from the summit.
The first vehicle hit a bank, while the second hit an oncoming car, causing minor damage.
Inquiries were continuing into the second incident.
While the road was wet there did not appear to be any other external factors which would have contributed, Snr Sgt Enoka said.
"The road policing manager is going to put through a recommendation ... to see if there might be something else for that area.
"Rain is definitely a factor, but for it to happen [on the same] corner, we’re thinking it might perhaps be something to do with the road."
Despite black ice on the road from Cardrona to the Crown Range yesterday morning, police were not called to attend any incidents.
