Crew forces entry to put out Queenstown blaze

Firefighters had to forcibly enter a Queenstown home tonight to extinguish a blaze in an oven.

A Fire spokesman said a crew from Queenstown station were called to a house in Bowen St after a smoke alarm sounded about 6.30pm.

An unusual smell alerted neighbour to the fire.

Firefighters "had to force entry'' and found a small fire burning inside an oven.

The blaze was extinguished and the house sustained no damage.
