Club buys adjacent land

Queenstown's Millbrook Country Club is spending $1.5 million for what amounts to a boundary adjustment.

In a decision released yesterday, the Overseas Investment Office revealed it had approved Millbrook's bid to buy 1.875 hectares of neighbouring land.

The land was owned by Waterfall Park Development Limited.

Its directors are Queenstown residents Chris and Michaela Meehan.

Millbrook property and development manager Ben O'Malley said the purchase was a minor boundary adjustment.

"It was an opportunity to tidy up a boundary and to have the boundary sitting on more of a geographical, logical point rather than just straight lines.''

He said the country club would "work into the adjacent land over time'', but there were no immediate development plans for the land.
