Charges possible after car reversed into 72-year-old

Police are considering charges against a 24-year-old woman from the United Kingdom who reversed into a pedestrian in a car park at the Five Mile shopping centre in Frankton yesterday.

Sergeant Steve Watt said a 72-year-old Queenstown woman was hit by the car while walking on a pedestrian crossing about 12:50pm.

She was taken to Lakes District Hospital for a CT scan after blood was seen coming from one of her ears, Sgt Watt said.

A St John spokesman said the woman’s condition was listed as moderate when she was admitted to hospital.
