Car quickly reunited with owner

A vehicle reported stolen in Queenstown was found almost immediately yesterday because an alert officer had seen it that morning "looking a bit out of place''.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown, said the vehicle's owner came to the station yesterday afternoon to report the car had been stolen from Lomond Cres some time during the past month while he was out of town.

That triggered the memory of an officer, who had seen the vehicle parked in Kent St that morning, and recognised it from having been stolen before.

The car had been dusted for fingerprints, and a forensic analysis of items inside the car carried out, Snr Sgt Enoka said.
