Having first sprung into life in 1924, the Arrowtown Annual Spring Flower Show enters its second century over the next two days.

New Arrowtown Horticultural Society (AHS) president Mary Phillips says the show — at the Athenaeum Hall from 1 till 5pm tomorrow and on Saturday from 10am till 3pm — provides "a memorable journey through the splendour of the season".

"This year’s event promises to be a breath-taking celebration of nature’s beauty, featuring an extraordinary array of spring flowers and floral displays, horticultural exhibits, amazing local crafts (including baking) and children’s creations."

Entries can be accepted at the hall today from 1 till 8pm in categories including cut flowers, pottery, floral art, handicrafts, baking and photography — AHS’s Facebook page has the full list.

A novice section for first-time entrants has also been included.

Flower show-goers can also shop for items from the white elephant stall, as well as plants and artisan goods.

Entry’s $3 for adults (cash only) and free for kids.
