Queenstown Lakes Mayor Clive Geddes is expected to announce later this month whether he will stand for re-election this year.
Mr Geddes, the incumbent since 2001, told the Queenstown Times he would make an announcement in a fortnight as to his future in the mayoral chair.
The local body elections are scheduled for October 9.
