Worldwide hotel chain Swiss-Belhotel International yesterday announced it will manage the hotels.
Occupying two seven-storey buildings separated by an access lane, the 4.5-star Swiss-Belhotel & Residences Queenstown and the Zest By Swiss-Belhotel will be built on a site opposite the former Wakatipu High School.
They are being developed by Aucklander Tony Gapes' Redwood Group, the company behind Frankton's Five Mile and the "The Alex'' apartment complex now under construction on the corner of Gorge Rd and Hallenstein St.
Swiss-Belhotel & Residences will have 194 rooms and 32 furnished apartments with either one or two bedrooms.
The Zest property will offer lower-cost accommodation targeting younger travellers, with 223 rooms, 160 ``pods'', communal bathrooms and large social facilities.

The projects will add to the more than 3000 hotel rooms in the wider Queenstown area that are either under construction, consented but not yet built, or in the consenting process.
Only a month ago, a 393-room, two-hotel development was approved for a Brecon St site near the Skyline gondola.
Swiss-Belhotel International president, New Zealander Gavin Faull, said in a statement the company's six-year presence in the resort had given it a good sense of what visitors to the resort demanded.
"The time felt right to expand our offering in the region and launch two new hotel brands that haven't previously been available in New Zealand.
"These new hotels will offer something completely different to each other, giving visitors more options to choose from when staying in the scenic town.''
The company, which manages about 150 hotels worldwide, opened its first hotel, Swiss-Belresort Coronet Peak, in the resort in 2013.
It opened a hotel in Auckland in 2016, and bought Swiss-Belsuites Pounamu Queenstown in 2017.
