Emergency services responded to vehicle accidents in Queenstown over the weekend, including one where the driver was accused of "hooning around".
Early yesterday, police received a call from a member of the public concerned youths were driving "irresponsibly" near power poles off Jones Ave, Shotover Country.
A police media spokeswoman said police arrived at the scene shortly after midnight.
"Someone has reported a car full of hoons driving on to the reserve behind his property on Lower Shotover. He [the informant] said they have smashed into something in their car and they sound like they are drunk."
Police arrested one man at the scene and his blood-alcohol level was tested. On Saturday afternoon police were called to Hamilton Rd, Queenstown.
"It was reported a driver, in a ute, was speeding around a corner and nearly hit some people."
Police located the vehicle and the driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving. At 12.40pm yesterday, police were called to a crash at Hawthorne Dr, Frankton.
A member of the public told police their vehicle had been "dinged" and the offender had left the scene. She was unable to give further details of anyone involved in the incidents. In Wanaka, police were called to a crash at the intersection of Ballantyne and Riverbank Rds on Saturday. A spokesman confirmed one person sustained "moderate injuries" in the two-vehicle collision.
