Lakes Leisure Ltd has opened registrations for its winter community programmes at the Queenstown Events Centre, which will include Get Rocked - climbing classes for children aged 8 to 12.
The classes would be held on the Wakatipu Climbing Wall at the Events Centre, beginning on February 25 and running throughout the first term.
Children who took up the opportunity would learn to scale new heights and gain experience in the skill of rock climbing.
Recreation co-ordinator Alana Talbot said early registration was also encouraged for the highly popular winter basketball competition, restarting on March 10, with a trial, on March 3, held for those not already participating in a team.
"This will be a fun, social competition for serious athletes and those who would like to give basketball a go," Ms Talbot said.
Volleyball would also be catered for this year, beginning from April 3.
However, Ms Talbot said the programmes did not just cater for young Queenstown residents, with basketball and volleyball competitions also held in adult leagues, ideal for keeping office staff "warm and motivated" during winter.
