Wanaka camera shop owner Steve Worley (left) has been chosen as chairman of the town's newly-formed community patrol group.
Mr Worley said the group planned to begin patrols on July 1 and would spend the next few weeks raising funds for a car and equipment and setting up a structure for the organisation under the Community Patrols of New Zealand national organisation.
Senior Constable Mike Thomas, also pictured, said the patrol would be the ''eyes and ears'' of the police and would operate throughout the Upper Clutha.
