Wanaka attraction named as one of the world's weirdest

What do Wanaka's Puzzling World, a Texas prison, the electric chair, and a village of celebrity scarecrows have in common? They are all novelty attractions that have recently been listed among the world's top 10 most weird attractions for tourists on the international travel website IgoUgo.com.

Puzzling World marketing manager Duncan Spear said the website editors had compiled the list from readers' recommendations on places for travellers who wanted to find a bit of novelty.

Puzzling World's "Leaning Tower of Wanaka" - a popular photographic spot for visitors to the complex - had been noted as a particular quirk which had helped secure a spot on the list, Mr Spear said.

The tower, which is tilted at an angle of 53deg, has also found favour with the creators of the Wonder World website, who featured the edifice on their "strangest buildings in the world" list last week.
