Denise Sabourin, a Bordeaux School of Fine Arts graduate, is exhibiting 20 artworks at Toi o Tahuna Fine Art Gallery, from Friday, June 11 to Wednesday, June 30.
Prices range from $1250 to $9000.
Gallery owner Mark Moran said yesterday Ms Sabourin had exhibited in France, Japan, Canada, Spain and Italy.
She was on holiday in Queenstown when she saw Toi o Tahuna and inquired about an exhibition.
"Denise is interested in the filtering properties of translucent materials such as surgical gauze, which is generally used to cover wounds on the body, and blends them with rough, home-spun textures like tapa, tree cork crushed and prepared by Wallisian women, and coconut fibre," Mr Moran said.
"Painted using dyes, Denise's tapestries form narratives through their representational motifs."
