St Peters Church Hall in Queenstown will embrace the sounds of critically acclaimed Dudley Benson and The Dawn Chorus later this month.

As part of a 10-stop tour, the composer and performer will be visiting Queenstown on Thursday, November 25.

New Zealand-raised Benson is a former chorister from Christchurch Cathedral and released his first independent album in 2006.

The debut album sold out in a month and Benson released a second album in 2008 called The Awakening, which received critical acclaim across the country.

He embarked on an international tour with The Awakening, and performed in churches and cathedrals in five countries.

He spent the remainder of 2008 in Europe, where by invitation from German pop artist Barbara Morgenstern he presented a work written for Berlin's Wassermusik Festival.

His producer, Josh Thomas, said his close family ties in Riverton had made him a regular visitor to the Otago region and performing in Queenstown and Dunedin was a high priority for him.

Benson will be joined by his new vocal ensemble, The Dawn Chorus, Australian based beat-boxer Hopey One and special guest performer, dance artist Cat Ruka.

• Tickets are available only at www.dudleybenson.com and remaining tickets will be sold at the door. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm.
