Air traffic above Wanaka and Lake Hawea will increase over the next few days as 45 Americans are treated to flights in vintage aircraft.

A Mustang and a Strikemaster from Auckland company Strikemaster Ltd have been brought in to carry top-performing staff of Texan software company Solera, who are visiting New Zealand as part of a company incentive.

Strikemaster owner Brett Nicholls said planning for the flights began about 11 months ago and Wanaka Airport was chosen over Queenstown because it was less busy.
