A woman was airlifted to hospital this morning after cutting her knee in a fall on the Greenstone tramping track.
St John Central Otago/Southland Lakes territory manager Kelvin Perriman said the 22-year-old United States woman suffered a laceration to one knee.
"She was running, slipped and fell on a rock.''
A Lakes District Air Rescue Trust helicopter carrying a Queenstown paramedic picked up the woman near Lake McKellar about 9am.
She was treated at Lakes District Hospital and discharged.
A doctor was a member of her tramping party.
