There are only two choices for Hawea district residents this weekend - "red" or "blue".
The annual "town versus country challenge" starts tomorrow night, with a battle of wits at the Lake Hawea Community Centre quiz night.
The challenge continues on Sunday with a sports programme, Top Town Challenge, children's events and a barbecue.
The blue team is "town" - all those who live in Lake Hawea township, inside the boundaries of Muir, Cemetery and Domain Rds and the lake and including the holiday park.
On the red team is "country" - those who live in the country catchment of Hawea Flat School, including Johns Creek, Maungawera Valley and Dublin Bay.
"Town" won last year's challenge, after a three-year losing streak. The event celebrates New Zealand Day and has been held since 2006.
