The agreement, if given regulatory approval, would allow inbound American passengers to fly into Auckland Airport and then on to Queenstown Airport under one booking.
The proposal was announced at the New Zealand Airports Conference in Queenstown yesterday by David Hall, CEO of Jetstar Australia and New Zealand.
Speaking before the conference began, Mr Hall said the partnership would offer a "single, seamless itinerary".
"We have got to make travel streamlined and hassle free ... The code-share will boost tourism for Queenstown," he said.
Mr Hall said the partnership was Jetstar's 14th international alignment.
Nearly 200,000 American tourists arrive in New Zealand each year and Queenstown is one of the country's most visited destinations.
The new code-sharing alignment relates to domestic services between Queenstown, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland and involves 116 weekly flights.
Next year, Jetstar flights will also be available from Queenstown to Auckland and Auckland to Singapore.
