The Broken Heartbreakers, of Auckland, Rosy Tin Teacaddy, of Wellington, and Bond Street Bridge, of Auckland, arrive in Queenstown to play short, captivating sets of their own bluest ballads.
Then they join each other on stage and collaborate for the uplifting finale.
The three bands are joined by The Eastern, of Lyttelton, on all but the Queenstown and Milford Sound gigs of the 11-date national tour.
The Broken Heartbreakers released their critically acclaimed, self-titled album in early 2008.
It was recorded live, using only vintage analogue technology to create its lush sound and mixed to tape in real time.
Singer and guitarist John Guy Howell, formerly of Dunedin, joins band co-founder vocals-guitarist Rachel Bailey and mandolinist and 12-string guitarist Sam Prebble for the Dux de Lux showcase.
Mr Howell said the Heartbreakers had two threads - the full five-piece ensemble for a rockier edge and the acoustic trio which accented the harmonies and melodies.
"It's the songs stripped down to the bare essence. With the Slow Song Revue, there's a community vibe among the groups travelling together and we'd like to convey that to the audience."
