The new award was made at a Kahu Youth function recently to demonstrate how young people are making a positive difference in the town.
Maddison was described at the awards night as a ''very active member'' of the local community who had been volunteering for several years.
She is a member of the Wanaka division of St John Cadets and is an experienced ''patient'' during competitions.
Last year she earned her 100-hours volunteer badge and is now well on her way to earning her 200-hours badge.
Maddison is the youngest registered volunteer at Volunteering Central and has baked, delivered posters and collected money for a variety of causes.
At Wanaka Primary School Maddison has helped organise fundraising mufti days, and her weekends and holidays have included time helping out with the running of the Winter Games, Challenge Wanaka, Warbirds Over Wanaka and the Wanaka A&P Society's show.
She also helps the Wanaka and Alexandra Rotary Clubs with events such as the annual Bullock Creek duck race.
Maddison says she enjoys volunteering and never asks or accepts anything in return.
And besides her volunteering efforts, she assures the ODT she ensures she still has time for video games, television, homework, reading and writing.
The 12 and under award went to Kate Goodsell, the 14 and under to Cole Masters, the 16 and under to Alex Johnston and the 18 and the under to Chloe Wigg.
