Two unrelated assaults, three drink-drivers, a car driven off State Highway 6, and six arrests for breach of bail made for a steadier few days for Queenstown police and the Rural Drink Drive Squad, compared to the previous weekend, the opening of the Queenstown Winter Festival.
A 27-year-old Queenstown man was charged with assault after an alleged altercation with an Otautau man, outside Sky Bar, on Camp St, yesterday at 3.25am.
The alleged victim suffered a minor injury, Sergeant Mark Gill, of Queenstown, said.
A 19-year-old Invercargill man was charged with assault following an alleged attack on a 18-year-old Bluff man, who also suffered a minor injury, at Night 'n Day, on Camp St.
Out of more than 5000 vehicles stopped at checkpoints between Thursday and Saturday night, police processed three alleged drink-drivers.
