Queenstown motorists will be targeted from today in an operation by Queenstown police.
Constable Tracy Haggart said the main focus of the campaign would be on speed, seatbelts and drink-driving - all had been identified as being within the top five causes of fatal and injury crashes.
"Police would like to remind all motorists to drive within the posted speed limits, ensure everybody in the vehicle is wearing their seatbelt at all times when the vehicle is moving and not to drink alcohol and drive.
"If you plan on having some alcoholic drinks, it is advisable to leave your vehicle at home and arrange alternative transport."
Any motorists stopped for speeding or failing to wear seatbelts would be issued with an infringement notice.
Every motorist stopped would be breath-tested, she said.
The operation begins today and finishes on Sunday.
