All roads led to the Coronet Peak and Remarkables Ski Areas yesterday.

After waking up to a world coloured white, thousands thronged to the mountains to make the most of the new snow - at least 17cm of fresh powder at Coronet Peak and 15cm at The Remarkables.

Australian holidaymakers made up the majority of the multitude. The areas were crowded with skiers, snowboarders, snowman-makers, and those simply happy to revel in the fresh snow, which continued to fall all day. Queenstown Times reporter Joe Dodgshun joined the snow-dusted crowds.
