Remarkables Park Town Centre and Remarkables Park Ltd have announced their sponsorship of Oliver! before auditions for the Showbiz Queenstown musical are held this weekend.
Town Centre spokeswoman Korrena Mielke and Remarkables Park director Alastair Porter said in a statement that last year's performance of Les Miserables and other productions by Showbiz had been "outstanding successes that have commanded the respect and pride of the local community".
Ms Mielke said supporting the musical was a way for Remarkables Park Town Centre to give back to the community.
Remarkables Park would also be providing opportunities for customers to win tickets to attend the show when it is staged at the Queenstown Memorial Hall from May 13 to 22.
The show will directed and choreographed by Stephen Robertson, who directed Grease for Showbiz Queenstown in 2008.
Mr Robertson's other credits included successful productions of Chess, 42nd Street, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Chicago and Cats.
Mr Robertson starred in a production of Oliver! in 1975.
Showbiz Queenstown president Alex Derbie said the musical offered rare opportunities for children to participate in live theatre.
Mr Derbie said he was delighted the major sponsor of Oliver! was an integral part of the Queenstown community.
The cost of producing a major show was significantly higher than revenue from ticket sales.
"The Remarkables Park Town Centre partnership provides mutual benefits and additional promotional opportunities to Showbiz Queenstown."
Auditions for Oliver! will be held on February 12 to 14, alternating between the memorial hall, the Qpact rooms and Showbiz rooms on Isle St.
About 50 cast members and 40 crew members will be required. More than 90 people have registered their interest.
