Organisers of Queenstown festive activities are on the hunt for gentlemen prepared to don a red suit for a few hours before Christmas and help spread the spirit.

Every year, hundreds of men all over New Zealand help to give children a little taste of the Christmas magic by enabling them to have their photographs taken with him and listening to their Christmas wishes.

Remarkable Christmas event manager Simon Green said there was a range of events coming up and "we'd very much like to have Santa there at as many of them as possible.

"If there are gentlemen out there who can spare a few hours a week, have the Christmas spirit, love spending some time with kids and who look good in red then we'd definitely like to hear from them."

Santa's first appearance would be at the Remarkable Park Town Centre Family Fun Day this Saturday before he takes up residence at the Christmas Tree Grotto at Smiths City from December 1 to December 24 where he will be in store most days for two to four hours.

Mr Green said there were also other organisers looking for Santas, either on a one-off or ongoing basis over the coming month.

"It would be great to get a number of gentlemen on to a Santa database so as to make it easier for organisers to add a little bit of Christmas to their events."

Having played Santa at the Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park concert last year, Mr Green said something special happened when the red suit went on.

"The kids absolutely come alive and the looks on their faces are just amazing."

Anyone interested can contact Mr Green on 0272 946-837. The suit would be provided.
