Nikki Nash, who has owned the salon with business partner Megan Brown for the past two years, said the refurbishment had been worth every cent.
"There was no ceiling - the ceiling was the floor of the [Arrowtown] Medical Centre.
"The floor was hideous; it was like a shed. Now, it's a boutique.
"We've got a ceiling now, which is great."
Ms Nash said when she first bought the salon, in 2007, "it was covered in graffiti".
However, the women had taken just 10 days to completely transform the salon, complete with two chandeliers, which Ms Nash bought unknowingly from one of her clients.
"They are a little bit meant to be."
Ms Nash said the reaction from existing clients had been phenomenal.
"They've just been amazed.
"It's inviting . . . It feels more girly, but we still want guys to come in.
"It's changed our lives."
