Sallies moving to new premises

The Salvation Army has gained resource consent to move into new premises in Industrial Pl to deal with an overflow of goods from its downtown site.

Salvation Army Queenstown corps officer Kenneth Walker said staff were hoping to make the move across the road at the end of this month, allowing much more space for storage and retail.

"The operation has grown over the last six years ... and we need a bit more backing and processing space, as well as a bit more showroom space, and of course the huge advantage of off-street parking."

Due to limited floor space in the Sallies' Shotover St premises and the present Industrial Pl showroom, the new site will sell "a full range of clothing, furniture and household items".

The store will move from 67 to 42 Industrial Pl, a site previously occupied by PlaceMakers.
