Five scoping reports for roadworks projects around the Wanaka ward have been approved by the community board but put on hold, mainly because of insufficient funding.
Council staff have determined Land Transport New Zealand funding criteria do not apply to the projects and the projects exceed the Wanaka non-subsidised seal extension budget of $513,000.
The Wanaka Community Board will reprioritise the projects within the next year.
The projects are.-
• Mt Barker Rd (Wanaka) seal extension (2km); two options costing $930,000 or $1.06 million.
• Beacon Point Rd (Wanaka) widening, kerbs and footpath (800m); two options costing $1.6 million or $1.2 million. The board agreed the project could proceed to the design phase for a staged implementation, giving priority to the needs of cyclists and pedestrians.
• Camp Hill Rd (Hawea Flat) road seal widening (5.8km): cost estimate $966,805.
• Church Rd (Luggate) seal widening (1.5km): two options costing $781,666 or $228,285.
• Hawea Flat seal extension (various roads): two stages costing $820,000 and $475,000.
