Restaurant fire contained by sprinklers

The Queenstown Volunteer Fire Service was called to a minor structural fire on Ballarat St on Monday night when a fire occurred in the air extraction system of a restaurant in the Mall.

A Fire Service spokesman said the fire broke out in the kitchen of the Captain's Restaurant at 8.45pm.

"It was just cooking and obviously a build-up of fat in the extraction system. It was contained by the sprinkler system, which did a pretty nice job," he said.
