Hundreds of rugby fans gathered at the Queenstown Events Centre on Saturday to see the Great Rugby Road Trip when it stopped in the resort.

Along with an impressive display of New Zealand rugby trophies - including the highlight, the Webb Ellis Cup, secured by the All Blacks in the 2011 Rugby World Cup - fans also got a chance to go up against some of the All Blacks in a balloon-blowing competition.

The aim was to blow up and burst a balloon as fast as possible.

While some attempted to break All Black records - and failed - more than once, Englishman Matthew Holdsworth managed to achieve that on his first attempt.

He burst his balloon after huffing and puffing for just over 27 seconds, beating All Black Brad Thorn's time.

Mr Holdsworth told the Queenstown Times his time meant he had likely beaten "the whole England team as well".
