Kiwibank's smart car, dubbed "Raymond", will be in Queenstown this week as part of a nationwide road trip seeking nominations for the 2012 Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards.
After setting off from Bluff last week, the car will visit communities and local heroes across New Zealand, finishing at Cape Reinga in six weeks' time.
National awards manager Emma McDonald said the awards were about celebrating what was great about New Zealanders, in both cities and small towns.
"They could be involved in meals on wheels or helping at their local school, right through to those inspirational Kiwis who are putting New Zealand on the world stage."
The awards recognise, encourage and reward New Zealand's people and celebrate the contribution of New Zealanders from all walks of life, providing Kiwis with an opportunity to recognise someone who inspires them, makes them proud and embodies the pure Kiwi spirit.
Ms McDonald said there were five categories - Local Heroes, Community of the Year, Young New Zealander of the Year, Senior New Zealander of the Year and overall New Zealander of the Year.
"Raymond" will be at the Queenstown waterfront in the CBD from noon to 1pm on Wednesday.
