Senior Constable Chris Blackford said five boxes and two postal carry bags filled with undelivered mail were delivered to the Queenstown police station at 6pm last Friday by a Frankton property resident.
Snr Const Chris Blackford said the mail was found in a large Frankton property which had an extensive backyard with thick undergrowth. It was not yet known how many individual mail items were in the boxes and bags.
Former postie Philippa Lynette Lindsay was arrested on November 9 after police found an estimated 12,000 mail items at the same Frankton house.
She faces one indictably laid charge of stealing mail and parcels between September 1, 2010 and November 9, 2012.
The Southland Times reported today that New Zealand Post received 317 complaints about missing mail from Wakatipu residents between January 2010 and Novermber 16 this year.
Postal Workers Union president John Maynard told the newspaper he wanted to know why the company failed to act until last month.
"That's a lot of dissatisfied customers."
