''Human error'' is being blamed for a Queenstown Lakes District Council no-show at an advertised drop-in session in Wanaka yesterday.
Resident Alan Cutler contacted the Otago Daily Times that advising no council staff or elected members attended the session at Cinema Paradiso to discuss the proposed district plan.
Mr Cutler said more than a dozen members of the public arrived at the venue for the 11am session.
''It was evident the council staff and/or elected members were not going to show up. It is disappointing that the public was let down in such an unforgiving way.
''QLDC could have put a sign up on the foyer door or sent a staff member down to apologise and let members of the public know of any replacement meeting,'' Mr Cutler said.
When contacted by the ODT yesterday, council communications manager Michele Poole said: ''This is a case of human error and I will be contacting Mr Cutler to apologise for the inconvenience''.
The first Wanaka drop-in session was not to have been until Thursday.
While it had been correctly advertised in one Wanaka weekly, it had been incorrectly advertised on a Wanaka radio station and on the council's own Facebook page.
It was also incorrectly advertised in the ODT, after the wrong information was given to media at a briefing on the proposed plan last week.
Ms Poole said the Cinema Paradiso drop-in session would be held tomorrow, from 11am until 1pm, with another session planned at the Lake Wanaka Centre on October 6, from 5pm to 7pm.
