QLDC concerns

Staff affected by the Queenstown Lakes District Council's organisational review have voiced concerns to the Southern Local Government Officers Union.

Union secretary Angela Watson confirmed ''there are some concerns that we are working through with members at this stage''. She would not elaborate.

More than 100 staff are affected and about 40 full-time equivalent positions are being disestablished.

The review recommended the council's consenting authority, Lakes Environmental, and Lakes Leisure, which runs recreation, leisure and venue activities, be liquidated and brought back into the council.

The new structure takes effect from Monday.
