Sports clubs and members of the public will get a chance to share their views on Queenstown Lakes District Council's proposed "community facility funding policy" at a meeting with QLDC community services manager Paul Wilson tomorrow.
The draft policy introduces a new fee structure for the use of council-owned facilities, such as sports grounds, community halls and events facilities, throughout the region.
It proposes free use for youth sports and discounted use for charitable events.
It introduces new base rentals and a "supplementary rental" or commission on earnings from sales and coaching.
The meeting was initiated by the Wakatipu Sports User Group, headed by Merve Aoake, Simon Spark and Craig Ferguson, on behalf of local sports clubs.
"A lot of people have approached us about this issue, and we will be bringing these views forward. But this is a chance for any group or individual to address council directly," Mr Ferguson said.
He said it was positive to see the council willing to listen to the public, and he encouraged anyone interested to attend the meeting.
Submissions close on February 28.
The meeting starts at 5.30pm tomorrow in the council chambers on Gorge Rd.
