Two Otago-Southland girls received awards at the New Zealand Pony Clubs annual awards presentation in Queenstown last night.
Anna Nesbit (17), of Queenstown, and Janelle Gibson (16), of Gore, won young achiever awards for their riding skills.
Anna Nesbit has been a member of the Central Otago Pony Club for nine years and holds her B certificate.
She has represented her club in riding, games, dressage, show jumping and eventing.
She has represented Otago-Southland at horse trials teams championships, winning the DC dressage and finishing third overall in 2008.
She was fourth overall last year.
She won the national coaches award for best DC team in 2008 and was a member of the winning Springston Trophy team last year.
Janelle Gibson has been a member of the Eastern Southland Pony Club for 14 years.
She came second in the 2010 NZPCA horse trials teams championships.
Noel and Eleri Griffin, of Invercargill, received volunteer awards for more than 36 years' involvement with the Kingswell Pony Club.
The Central Otago Pony Club is hosting the pony clubs national conference for the first time this weekend, in Queenstown.
