Pilot out of hospital

One of the pilots injured when a light plane on a training flight crashed while landing in the Von Valley near Queenstown earlier this month has been discharged from hospital.

Dan Noonan, of Queenstown, is now out of Southland Hospital and he and his family had asked for privacy so they could focus on his recovery, Real Journeys spokeswoman Lenska Papich, of Queenstown, said.

The other pilot, Dave Cross, of Cromwell, remained in a serious but stable condition in Dunedin Hospital, Ms Papich said.

The crash occurred when the plane was coming in to land on a farm strip. It came to rest upside down with the engine ripped from the fuselage.

Milford Sound Scenic Flights has resumed tourism operations.

The Civil Aviation Authority was conducting an investigation into the accident, a spokesman Mike Richards, of Wellington, said.
