The Perfect Woman competition had raised about $15,000 for the cancer charity CanLive Trust, competition organiser Sarah Perriam said yesterday.
A delighted Ms Perriam said the exact total could be more than that, but she had yet to go through the details with trust founder Stew Burt.
"But I can safely say $15,000 ... It costs about $1000 to go on the [CanLive] course, so that is 15 local people we can help," she said.
The CanLive Trust runs week-long courses for cancer patients and family members based on the methods of the Gawler Foundation of Australia.
It was set up in memory of Mr Burt's wife Liz, who died of cancer several years ago.
Ms Perriam said the Perfect Woman competition had attracted many more Wanaka entrants than previous years, while fewer entrants came from further away.
All of this year's 23 contestants were highly skilled, with many scoring eight out of 10 in various events, indicating they had prepared well, she said.
Practice obviously made perfect because the winner, Alice Ferguson, was competing for her third time while other past winners Melissa Brewster, of Wanaka, and Jaimee McMeechan, of Southland, won on their fourth attempts, Ms Perriam said.
