Glen Frew steers his Mitsubishi Evo to victory on Saturday in the 2015 Coronet Peak Hillclimb.

Frew won the race from just past the Skippers Rd turn-off to Coronet Peak in a time of 1min 34.91sec.

Queenstown Car Club spokesman John MacDonald said 48 cars were entered in the event, first held in 1987.

Drivers had to contend with all seasons on Saturday as sun, rain, snow, freezing winds and finally ''pea soup'' fog, added to the challenge of negotiating the twisting tar-seal road in the fastest time.

Second place getter was Chris Hey in a Toyota MR2 in a time of 1min 36.79sec.
