Central Otago adaptive snowsports athletes Adam Hall, of Wanaka, and Carl Murphy, of Lake Hawea, have been selected as finalists in the sport category for the Attitude Awards, which honour the outstanding achievements of New Zealanders living with disabilities.

Outram-raised Hall, who has spina bifida, won gold in the adaptive slalom race at the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver in February. He went on to be named the Otago Athlete of the Year - the first disabled athlete to ever win the award.

Murphy, a one-legged snowboarder with a below-the-knee amputation, is one of the best adaptive snowboarders competing on the world circuit.

He recently won gold at the 2010 United States Snowboard Nationals racing in the slalom and giant slalom events and made it on to the podium at his first World Cup event.

The Attitude Awards have grown from the television series Attitude, which screens throughout the year on TV One at 8.30am on Sundays.

There are six categories in the awards, including sport, courage in sport, artistic achievement, youth, spirit of attitude and employer, as well as the Attitude Hall of Fame and the ACC Supreme Award announced on the night.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Eden Park in Auckland on December 1.
