What do the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics and the Arrowtown Autumn Festival have in common?

The answer is new festival co-ordinator Toni Stockham, who will oversee the 30th anniversary of Arrowtown's annual event.

Ms Stockham, who lives in Queenstown when she is not working contracts overseas, said having seen ''five of the last six'' festivals as a punter she decided to apply for the role because it fit in well with her upcoming work in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games and ''it's a great community event''.

The events manager worked as a stadium co-ordinator for the Olympic Ceremonies Company, and was responsible for operational issues related to the opening and closing ceremonies. She also worked on the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Given next year was the 30th anniversary of the Arrowtown festival, ''we are looking to do something special'', Ms Stockham said.

The milestone meant ''we can do something a little different ... but we don't want to go out there and reinvent the festival, because it works as it is''.

She plans to leave for Glasgow at the end of May for a job at the Commonwealth Games.

She hoped her autumn festival role would be ongoing.
