It was the first year honorable mentions had been awarded at WOW and was the result of the high standard of garments entered, Brancott Estate WOW founder and co-judge Suzie Moncrieff said.
"We felt these entries ... needed the recognition they deserved."
Ms Regan's Pohutukawa Princess, entered in the Kiwi icons section, was one of the eight honorable mentions given during the show, which also included Invercargill couple Sally Davies and Chris Nutter, whose Iron Maiden design was entered in the avant garde section.
There were 35 winners who shared the $150,000 prize pool, including supreme winner, London-based designer and saddler Mary Wing To and runner-up, designer Marjolein van der Wal of the Netherlands.
Ms Regan, who first entered WOW in 2010, said she utilised discarded or everyday materials and transformed them into desirable and decorative art objects.
"This entire garment is constructed from cable ties which I have hand-dyed."
Ms Moncrieff said Ms Regan's garments were "spectacular".
"The simplicity and clean design of Pohutakawa Princess is quite beautiful, and Andi has been very clever in her interesting use of non-traditional material," she said.
Ms Regan was one of four Otago entrants chosen to appear in the WOW shows.
