Europcar is the first rental-car operator in Queenstown Airport to open its newly designed booth, only the second place in New Zealand where the new global livery has been used.
Restructuring the way rental car operators were accommodated in the airport was linked to the need to provide more processing space in the international arrivals hall.
Europcar New Zealand general manager Steve Whyte said the branding upgrade and new terminal position provided greater visibility and awareness within the terminal. Increased foot traffic and growing brand recognition would increase its Queenstown business, Mr Whyte said.
''We are expecting a bumper winter season in Queenstown and we have a completely new fleet of 4WD vehicles on order now for winter delivery.''
Europcar, Jucy, Thrifty, Avis, Budget and Hertz were the car rental operators awarded Queenstown Airport in-terminal rental car licences.
Work on the booths for all operators will be completed before the ski season starts.
Additional rental car operators have on-airport licences for customer collection and drop-off.
Queenstown Airport aeronautical general manager Simon Barr said the licence tendering process started in late 2012. It ran for almost six months and attracted strong interest, he said.
