The Lake Hawea Holiday Park has been sold, with new owners Richard and Sarah Burdon taking over from founders the Cotter family in October.
Dick Cotter, of Lake Hawea, said the sale was celebrated between the two families on Saturday.
His son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Rebecca were happy to stay on as managers until the camp changed hands.
Richard and Sarah Burdon own the nearby Glendene Station. Mr Burdon is also branch president of Federated Farmers Otago.
Mr Cotter said the family was happy with the confidential price offered by the Burdons.
Mr Cotter and his late wife Margie founded the camp in 1970. The 2.8ha block of Crown land is secure.
The land has been vested in the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council oversees the 33-year lease, of which about 28 years are left to run.
The council has previously confirmed it has no plans for anything other than a camping area on the site.
