New guardians appointed

Associate Minister of Conservation Kate Wilkinson yesterday confirmed three new members of the Guardians of Lake Wanaka, until 2012.

They are: Helen Tait, of Wanaka, who works in project and planning management and is a trustee of the Upper Clutha Tracks Trust and former president of the Upper Clutha Tramping Club; Barrie Wills, of Alexandra, a self-employed scientist and member of various environmental organisations, including the Clutha Mata-au River Parkway Group; and Dick Kane, of Wanaka, a farmer and Wanaka Community Board member.

They join recent past chairman Peter Hook, of Lake Hawea, a Ngai Tahu representative on the guardians.
